The Zoo

To go out on a long outing with a lot of kids, everything has to be perfect. The kids need to feel good- not be too sick or hot or tired or hungry, etc. etc., the timing between naps and meals has to be perfect... there are so many variables. I've had plenty of "why did we every even ATTEMPT this???" outings, for sure. Well, we hit the perfect storm of perfects. Everyone was happy (or as good as one could hope) the day was cool-ish but not too cold, the day was overcast but it never rained despite threatening forecasts, there were no crowds (due to the questionable weather), the animals were active and entertaining, the traffic was good and the kids even tolerated the car ride reasonably well. Hooray! We had a great day at the zoo.

This wagon just sits on our back porch collecting rainwater and dirt until zoo day. Then it is worth its weight in gold.

I call this picture "4 bums and 4 bums". They temporarily let in 4 elephants into this small space for 10 minutes just as we were standing there. PERFECT!!

This is my very favorite part of the zoo. It has all these parakeets in a caged-in area - you can buy a stick with birdseed and the birds will come land on your stick. Madeline kept getting mad at the birds for eating the birdseed - I think she wanted to eat it.

I love these pictures. Not only are they cute, but they remind me of when we came out and went to the zoo. So Fun!! We need to come and do it again. We don't have a zoo here in St. George, the animals would all die in the summer. Oh, well. We'll stick with the pool!
