Speaking of measles, there is currently the worst measles epidemic in over a decade in the US. Due to a few well-publicized highly emotional case reports, the pervasive and unjustified fear that there may be a problem with the measles vaccine has caused a major decrease in unvaccinated children. It is very concerning that this current measles epidemic may become a major national health crisis where there will be many unnecessary hospitalizations, deaths and permanent mental retardation due to encephalitis in our children. The correlation between autism and immunizations has been soundly debunked. There is NO issue and NO reason to fear.
My main concern lies with our babies who CAN'T get the vaccine due to age and the immunocompromised who can't protect themselves - they have been protected by herd immunity in the past, but would not be protected in a nation-wide epidemic.
For now, we will just get out the soap and water.

Oh no. I remember with fondness the time you got into a mini debate with the wife of one of Jake's friends over vaccinations. You did a very good job of keeping your cool in the face of idiotic logic. Your face did turn a little red though. :)
